Southern Connecticut now has low-cost options for spay/neuter of cats & dogs, and that option is provided by the Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic.
Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic is the next phase of FeralCare's goal to end euthanasia of unwanted litters of companion cats and dogs. After six years of monthly spay/neuter clinics for feral and stray cats only, FeralCare's only way to make a huge difference in our area was to create a permanent weekday facility to perform affordable spay/neuter surgeries for the half million cats and dogs that reside just in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Nutmeg opened August 27, 2012, and has already spayed/neutered almost 2,000 cats and dogs. Together they can end the suffering and allow all animals the chance to have loving, forever homes.
The clinic performs roughly 25 cat and dog sterilizations per day including vaccinations for rabies and distemper and other services, and our plan is to offer education to the community for responsible pet care, support for feral cat colonies, and work with area rescues to help the animals.
It is our dedication and desire to help end the needless practice of euthanasia at animal-facilities and private shelters. It is our vision that this clinic will help bring awareness to the community while decreasing unwanted litters being born.
