How to care for your pet AFTER surgery

You will receive post-operative care instructions when you pick up your pet, but you can also view these instructions here.

We especially want to highlight the Elizabethan collar (e-collar, cone, etc.), which you are responsible for
purchasing and your pet wears for 7 to 10 days after surgery.

Does your pet have a post-surgical problem?

We are happy to see your pet Monday through Thursday during the day if you notice a problem with the incision site or your pet isn't acting normal after surgery during the recovery period. Simply call us to make an appointment to come in; we will respond to you immediately if you leave a message.

If we are closed (weekday evenings, Fridays, Saturday, Sundays and holidays), please refer to this list of participating veterinarians who will perform the same recheck appointment Nutmeg offers. If the vet needs to perform a procedure or recommends a medication, you will be responsible for the cost as it would be at Nutmeg.
